THE SOUND IN THE WILDERNESS: Story of a struggling music minister

The sun was setting over the small town as Olu Martins sat alone in the empty church auditorium. The plastic chairs were stacked against the wall, and the old keyboard in front of him had several broken keys. He pressed a few notes, and the weak sound echoed through the hall.

Years earlier, Olu had believed God had called him into music ministry. He dreamed of leading thousands into worship, recording songs that would touch nations, and seeing lives transformed by the presence of God.

But reality looked very different.

At thirty-two, Olu was still struggling. His songs barely received a hundred views online. Invitations to minister were rare. When churches invited him, they often couldn’t afford to pay transportation costs. Some people told him he was gifted, while others questioned whether he had truly heard from God.

His friends from university had become successful businessmen, engineers, and politicians. Meanwhile, Olu was driving a motorcycle taxi during the week to support his wife and young daughter.

Many nights he lay awake asking God the same question:

Lord, did You really call me?

One rainy evening, after returning from a poorly attended worship meeting, Olu opened his phone and saw another rejection message from a record label.

“We appreciate your submission, but your music does not fit our current vision.”

He stared at the screen.

Something broke inside him.

Falling to his knees, he cried.

Lord, I’m tired. I’ve prayed, fasted, written songs, and served faithfully. Why does it seem like nothing is happening?

The room was silent.

No thunder.

No angel.

No dramatic vision.

Just silence!

For the first time in years, Olu considered giving up.

The next Sunday, his pastor preached from the story of David.

Before David stood before Goliath, he spent years in obscurity. Before he wore a crown, he watched sheep. God develops His servants in hidden places.”

The words pierced Olu’s heart!.

That night, he opened his Bible and read Psalm 78:70-72.

He chose David His servant and took him from the sheepfolds… and guided them by the skillfulness of his hands.”

Olu noticed something he had never seen before. God developed David’s character before revealing his platform.

The following months were difficult, but Olu made a decision:

He would worship whether anyone listened or not. He stopped chasing popularity and focused on serving faithfully.

Every morning before work, he spent an hour writing songs.

Every Friday night, he led worship at a small prayer gathering attended by fewer than twenty people.

Every Sunday, he served joyfully in his local church.

One evening, during a worship session at the prayer gathering, Olu sang a new song he had written called In the Wilderness You Are Still God.”

Someone recorded a short video and posted it online.

Within days, the clip began spreading across social media.

Thousands watched.

Then hundreds of thousands.

Churches began singing the song.

Radio stations played it.

Worship leaders across the country contacted him.

Suddenly, the opportunities he had prayed for started appearing.

A journalist once asked Olu during an interview:

“What was the secret to your breakthrough?”

Olu smiled.

“There was no sudden breakthrough. God was working when nobody was watching. The years of obscurity were not wasted years. They were training years.”

The audience applauded but Olu knew the truth.

The greatest miracle wasn’t that his music reached the nations.

The greatest miracle was that God had preserved his faith during the years when nobody knew his name.

And every time he stood before thousands of worshippers, he remembered the broken keyboard, the empty auditorium, and the lonely nights when all he had was God’s promise.

Because the wilderness had taught him a lesson he would never forget:

“A true music minister does not sing because crowds are listening. He sings because God is worthy of worship”.

As a gospel music minister, remember this:

The hidden years are not wasted years. The songs written in tears often become the songs that heal nations.

God is usually more interested in building the messenger than promoting the message.

If God gave you the song, He will also prepared the audience. Your assignment is faithfulness; God’s assignment is influence.”

The End.

THE CAVE CONFERENCE 2026: Forging of God’s new battle axes

The spiritual battle between the kingdom of light and darkness  has been on for ages!”

Recruitment into their various battalions will not be over soon therefore the need to strategically reform and re-group but the narrative is about to change with a new spiritual formation looming, to herald the emergence of a new movement of radical men who are sold out to conquer the domain and territories of principalities and powers.

THE CAVE CONFERENCE 2026 is such a meeting where  recruitment and initiation into the new formation of God’s army begins. The Chief Warlord ( God) is about to carefully select His own instrument of war with His choicest servant Pastor Tosin Okunloye ( Leader of the new formation- TCC, RCCG Regional Youth Evangelist in the RCCG) in the frontline.

This year’s edition tagged “THE BATTLE AXE” will not fall short of this expectation as all ground has been covered with divine resources made available for an unforgettable experience that will transcend into generations.

Anointed Ministers of God who  will be championing this course include but not limited to Pastor Daniel Olawande- The Convener of an apostolic gathering tagged YMR, Pastor Godswill Oyor, renowned music minister Mike and Faith Owolabi will also be in attendance

This annual event happening live at the very heart of MOWE CITY and  drawing hungry youths, men and women from all walks of life will run from June 15th- 28th at the De- Crown Event Centre, Opposite Asolo School, Ofada Road, Mowe Ogun State.

The cave conference over the years has been an offshoot of the famous biblical CAVE OF ADULLAM experience with radical evidences of unlimited transformation and reformation. It’s a gathering of weak men who are ready to be forged into mighty men of war.

The victory of a war is solely dependent on the sharpness, experience of the soldier and his available equipment of war. GOD is the warlord! and we are His new BATTLE AXES!

The cave conference 2026  will prove it!

ESSENCE OF TRUE WORSHIP by Ade Stephen

As the music minister begins to worship with her sweet but stressed voice on this particular sunday morning, it was the sunday of our carol so i wasn't in my usual energy mode (feel tired and exhausted from series of rehearsals and preparation towards the carol at that time). I felt this great silence and heavy presence of a greater force around me.

I couldn't even open my mouth to sing as i stayed glued to a spot, just watching as the whole scenario played out.

As the music  blasted from the speakers, erupting like a molten magma from its imprisoned state and with that lady really doing a good job by leading the people to worship, the least i could do to avoid distractions was to close my eyes (as seen in the picture attached) and like a flash, i saw myself navigating through the celestial bodies with a speed faster than a rocket only to land in front of a closed golden door.

I was curious of what was actually happening as i stood gazing at the door and quickly, a beautiful winged creature came close and immediately, the door opened.

We entered through the golden gate and to my greatest amazement (like a movie), i saw great numbers of this beautiful winged creatures hovering around in a uniform and perfect style of movement (that's the way  i can best describe it) like it was rehearsed. I was awed. My God! I have never seen something like that before

They all look alike with no difference in their look ( the only difference was in their sizes) . The creature held me and we landed on a golden street which leads to a burning bright sparkling looking throne

The weight of the throne brightness almost blinded me as i tried to behold it. The creature left me on that spot and i guess i was left alone to experience what will play out all by myself. Immediately, i fell on my kneels and started crying.

While this was going on over there, i could still hear the voice of the music minister leading the worship, echoing and resonating from here (in the church). The heavenly aura was so beautiful and intense that i had to lay fixed and bowed there with my mouth muttering some words i cant even understand. All i know i want to say is God help to come back here after am done down there (earth)

I heard a voice coming out from the burning bright sparkling throne, speaking calmly to me and also gave me few instructions. Though i didn't see who was speaking but i know for sure it was Him (my lover and my friend).

After He was done talking, the winged creature flew towards me and with a single touch, i regain my consciousness, still rooted on same spot and maintaining same standing posture while the worship was still going on. Tears was all over my  eyes here too (you might need to look closely at the pic) . You know what that means right??

At this point, i realized that i had embarked on a life changing journey in the realm of the spirit by just focusing during worship.

PS: Heaven is really beautiful

Selah.

SOME TRUTH

'Some truths are known to people even when they sometimes act oblivious to them'. Their personal selfish desires conflicts with reality. Here is the catch: people often think they can manipulate situations in their favour when the odds are apparently against them. You can't keep falling into a conspicuous pit and expect a favorable outcome.

To the man who weather the storms, cross the deepest oceans and seas, fought many battles and came out strong and undeterred. I am celebrating your achievements which to many, might be not, in this your 72 years sojourn here and at thesame time writing this tribute without remorse and no atom of prejudice.

Growing up, I have watch you made some decisions, which are not  feasible to the feeble minds and can comprehended as babes. It looks though that its going to stand the test of time yet you stood by it. IT PAID OFF eventually and that defines the true entity of a risk taker.

Prince Olusegun Samson Adebayo, a man (though not without flaws) yet perfect representation of a true loving and dotting father.

The name BOBO SEGE is not just a cliché but it has come to resonate with peace and vibrancy your old age has birthed over the years, in coup d'état with the youthful vibes that encompasses your persona wherever you go ( cant forget this so quickly during my convocational journey to Abuja in the year 2019) and your high level of critical thinking capacity, which betray the characteristics of a man of your age. I cant believe you are 72 oooo....Opolo po (Too much ideas)

Your legacy of sound education, good name and integrity, which you gave us on a platter, cannot be overemphasized. You have imprinted that on the tablet of our heart that integrity, knowledge and good character makes a man not money or valuables. 'I have built the name ADEBAYO over the years, it is your turn to write it on the plate of gold' . This is your testament, which has eventually become a path to be threaded and a guiding torch for every decisions and choices, leading us on to fulfilling purpose and destiny and to be passed on from generations to generations.

There are so many things yet to be said, many epistles yet to be written about your personality and entity but some details about a sagacio ( if there is any grammar like that anyways) like your personality and entity are meant to be hidden  in the VOLUME OF GOLDEN BOOKS for coming generation to seek like a treasure.

I wish to go on and on but I will be dropping my pen here not without saying Happy birthday to you my world best dad. Wishing you a life full of laughter and good health to enjoy your dividends of labour, in  peace and joy.

Bonne anniversaire in a French man's voice ( oyindamola can relate with that though)

ALL FOR A PENNY .........Stephen Adebayo

"The craze for worldly achievement in the only business of the Almighty God on earth-THE CHURCH which he has committed to our hands is very alarming and it calls for a quick attention. The unnecessary distractions which has suddenly crept into the church, is now becoming cancerous and a deadly virus which needs to be totally wiped out."

The race to be called a General Overseer, Superintendent of District, Zone and General, Senior Pastor, to be counted among the largest church with the largest auditorium in the world, to be among private jet owners, to be listed in Forbes Richest men of God and the likes, has become so unending in the fold. We cannot but state how these frivolities has degenerated into undue competition and rivalry amidst the custodian of the gospel itself and its stakeholders becoming enemies of God, just to sustain the top (James 4;4). We have diverted our attention to the DENARIUS forgetting the main assignment. The time and duration of work doesn’t matter to God but how well we do it. Understanding this fact will erase the seniority mentality we are battling in the ministry (this does not negate the fact that the young ministers should honor their senior colleague) because at the end of the day, we are all entitled to the same pay. So why the envy?

The major purpose of the gospel which is winning souls and depopulating the kingdom of hell has been abandoned with several souls been won every day to the other side. The mystery of every commission and mandate is that it has a penny attached to it.

Our God is faithful and just that he will not call anyone to work without making provision for what will be needed to succeed in the mission and that is the more reason why the devil usually entice the unguarded ones with what God has already make provision for, in other to dissuade them from the original mandate. There is every tendency that he who start first might not finish first and he who start late might not finish late because in the race, there is room for OVERTAKING.( Matt 20:13)

Matthew 20:1-16 illustrate the story of a vineyard owner who hires laborers at various times throughout the day. He hired some at 6am, some at 12pm and some at 5pm. We all know that the closing hour is 6pm. Mathematically, we can analyze that the one that started by 6am put in a full day’s work, the one that started by 12pm worked for 6 hours while the one that started at 5pm just worked for an hour yet the owner pays  everyone a full days wage (a denarius). He makes sure that all are paid the same regardless of the different number of hours worked.

There was commotion at the end. The laborers who worked full day and for 6 hours felt cheated and consider the vineyard owner has been unfair to them but here is the employers response in quote ‘ Friend, I am doing you no wrong ; did you not agree with me for the usual daily wage?..... Am I not allowed to do what I choose with what belongs to me? Or are you envious because I am generous?

Some scholars has given so many interpretation to this verse, considering the laborers here as doing the right thing as humans. Some assume its work and the employer ought to apply the measure of experience on the job and should not have treated them equally but that above response in quote should be engraved in the heart of any critic of the scripture.

This part of that response got me speechless ‘did you not agree with me for the usual daily wage’ which implies that God will never be guilty of anyone. He is the owner of the business, He runs it Himself, He decides who to employ and at what time He deem fit. He is a faithful employer who will never pay His employee when it’s due. He doesn’t cheat and there is no overtime in His business. When it is time to close, no one will be forced to work beyond the closing time. Everyone has an agreement with Him before he/she commences work and He will surely keep to His own part of the deal which is A PENNY.

This is a revelation and a mystery of the kingdom service and the few lessons i leant here is that;

·       No one tells God how to run His business.

·       No one can help God in His business.

·       He determines who he employs in the business.

·       There is a closing time in the business- NO OVERTIME.

·     The business is on a wage system- Every hour counts, so no room for complacency.

·       He pays everyone the same amount – (A PENNY) so don’t envy others, focus on your calling.

Three stages on the job is morning, afternoon and evening and everyone no matter how and when start the job, accumulate all the wealth, fight ourselves for topmost position in the office, get all the global recognition, travel round the world, build the largest auditorium in the world with the largest number of worshippers in the world, have all the anointing – It is all for a PENNY

May the Lord help us not to miss the goal while we concentrate on the wage

UNBROKEN CORD

One of the most beautiful thing God instituted is marriage and it is what every person who has a mandate to fulfill should look forward to. The way He designed it is so tremendous that no one ever got it right and regret it. Though there are procedures and lay down kingdom principles to be followed to ensuring a blissful marriage and every believer must not cut the corners to attaining this level of conjugal bliss

Not so many marriages in the kingdom are successful because of the little foxes that destroys the garden which time will not permit me to start counting here. But looking critically into survey and researches, it is pathetic to note that many christian homes have been  broken without amends due to lack of adequate communication and compatibility. Some ranges from hidden secrets to infidelity and many more.

Having said that, I have been receiving so many messages from last week from the latest news delivered by the federal government on the possibility of Ikoyi marriage Registry which in turns will nullify so many marriage certificates received from there. The news to many has created mixed feelings and grief but the big question I asked myself is, does the certificate from the registry and any other marriage centres determines how far and well the marriage will go?

I am one of those who observe my registry at Ikoyi and instead of acting as the victim here and making the whole thing looks like without the certificate there is no marriage, I decide to think deep and look within and these are the questions I came up with

  • Is successful marriage dependent on where it is held?

  • Does spending lavishly on wedding determines the well being and longevity of the marriage?

  • Is there any discrepancies between church wedding and any other form of marriage?
  • Which is the right biblically, church mode of solemnization or traditional solemnization?

To be continued.....

THE PATHWAY

The God who made heavens and the earth has given us the options to choose between life and death, darkness or light, the good or bad. This power of choice comes with an implication and responsibility.

No matter what man choose to obtain is followed by an implication either negative or positive. No wonder that what men do,either evil or good, will live after them even after they have gone.

Lovingly God is beseeching us to choose right and live right. The path of righteousness is life eternal while the other is eternal damnation. Choose LIFE and Live

He is the way, the truth and the life...Jesus!
